2011 Money Saving Tip – Start a Gift Closet

Throughout the month of January, I will be sharing money saving tips that we can all incorporate to save more money, spend less on necessities, and help others in the process.

2011 Money Saving Tip- Start a gift closet or area in your home to stockpile gifts that you can use throughout the year. Include a list of birthdays, anniversaries and special occasions, so you can see ahead of time what is on the horizon.

How many last minute Christmas gifts did you need to buy this year? Next year, aim for zero. Not only will it cut down your gift giving budget, it will cut down on your stress and need to rush out and just grab something. Before you forget, make a list of all the Christmas gifts you gave this year and any thoughts about how to do things differently next year.

Stick with me throughout the year. There will be plenty of opportunities to pick up items for free or nearly free as we bargain hunt this year. I invite you to bookmark this site or sign up for free emails so you will never miss one of those great deals that come and go so quickly.

Do yourself a favor and start saving the easy way and I’m not just talking about cutting down your credit card debt and weekend spending – that is much harder. This is as simple as an hour and a trip to Walmart – its prepaid cell phone time! Seriously, I was skeptical of the network and the savings, but I was proven super wrong by Straight Talk (Walmart’s company) and I’m smiling right back at ATT and my old $100 bill – it turns out that ST is powered by the same network I was once forced to keep because of a contract. Now, I’m paying a manageable $45 a month instead of $90 and have plenty of minutes and texts to show for it instead of overages and fees.
