8/1/2009 update- I am sorry to report that JetAmerica airlines never made it off the ground. They are in the process of refunding money for ticket purchases, according to the LA Times business section today.  However, I do have two discount travel sights as an alternative:

Lastminute.com finds great deals for trips with short notice. They specialize in getting away this weekend or the next. they even offer restaurant reservations, theater tickets and sport event tickets. This is a one-stop shop for that spontaneous get-away. Just remember, due to the last-minute purchases, all sales are final. The ad below is for their website.

“9 seats for 9 dollars, every flight, no exceptions and not a gimmick” is the slogan. Surf over to the Jet America website and see if you can snag some $9 seats as they begin flying to the following cities:

ORLANDO/MELBOURNE FLA, NEW YORK CITY VIA NEWARK, TOLEDO/ DETROIT, LANSING,  SOUTH BEND  AND MINNEAPOLIS/ST.PAUL. Perhaps that summer vacation is not out of reach with JetAmerica.
