Bank of America, $100 for new checking account

If you open up a new checking account with Bank of America , they will deposit $100 into your account within 90 days. The offer seems pretty straightforward. You need to have a minimum balance of $500, have the checking account open for at least 30 days and make at least 1 transaction with the new check card that will be issued to you.

You must not have had a closed account with Bank of America within the last 3 months. The offer expires 2/28/10 and there is one per household.

The website says each cardholder gets free general admission so one Bank of America card equals one free admission. Individual museum hours vary, so call ahead. Here are just a few of the more than 100 museums that participate:

Did you know that you can get Target coupons sent to your mobile phone? You can sign up through this link and Target will text you mobile coupons once a month.

I recommend this if you have unlimited texting or standard rates will apply. If you don’t have unlimited texting, you will have to decide if the texting charge offsets the savings on the coupons.

You simply show the coupon on your cell phone to the cashier and she gets the barcode from your phone and instantly applies it to your order. How easy is that?

Do you love Target? If you are a Target shopper, I recommend buying and using the Entertainment Book because there are 4 specials deals for Target shoppers. You can get 10% off of one purchase at Target during the year. If you could save this for a large purchase, you could save a bundle. You can get $5.00 off an order of $50.00 all year through Target.com when you sign up and register your savings card that comes with your Entertainment Book. Lastly, Target has special clearance items and weekly bargains sent by email to the Entertainment Book members. This alone will pay for your Entertainment Book. Seeing More With Less Today mentioned in the San Francisco Chronicle put a spring in my step this morning! My blog was listed along with some of the “big boys!” HERE is the link to the story in the “Dollars and Cents” column titled “Money-Saving Sites to Check Out.” There are other useful sites mentioned in the story. I have written about several of them like Gazelle and Last Minute and I plan to look at the rest soon.

My goal is to make More with Less Today a “one stop shop” for all of the best and current money saving ideas. As a new “empty-nester”, I have now have the time to do the research. When my kids were under the roof, it was a good day when I had dinner on the table.

I am working on a new design theme for More With Less Today. Soon you will be seeing a magazine-style home page where you can access many stories without having to search through the archives. Stay tuned!

Where to shop for discount furniture online

I have heard that there were great deals to be had by purchasing furniture in North Carolina at a place callled High Point. About 50% of the nation’s furniture is produced within a 200 mile radius in North Carolina.

Yesterday, the Today Show did a segment on one store, Boyle’s and I took a tour of their website. If you are going to be purchasing furniture, you need to take a look at the discounts on the Boyles website. Boyle’s advertises 40% to 50% off retail and I saw some beautiful furniture for great prices on their site. Be sure and click on the “Online Furniture Outlet” tab at the top of the site. According to the Today Show segment, this online outlet is updated frequently. A name brand designer mirror was selling for $99.00.

Boyles will ship their furniture to you with their “white glove” service. You can get a free price quote online and browse through their online catalog.

After factoring in the shipping costs, you will need to crunch the numbers. However, printing out the pictures and the prices on this site can be a great negotiating tool is you are shopping for furniture.

Here are just a few of the top brand names that they carry: Kreiss, La Barge, Hooker, Hickory White, Hendredon, Martha Stewart Signature, Baker, Bob Timberlake and Century.
