Pier One – $100 gift card for $85.00, save 15%

Borders – $250.00 for $217.50, save $32.50

JCPenney – $100 gift certificate for $87.50, save $12.50

All of these cards came with free shipping and there were many more to choose from. All the recipient sees is the dollar amount for the full value.

There are two companies that I found that offer these discount gift cards. The first is called giftcards. com, click on discounted merchant cards, then “view all”.

The site will also buy your unwanted gift cards with a balance between $25.00 and $200.00 as long as there is not a pending expiration. They will charge you a fee to buy your card, but still it’s better than having it sit unused in a drawer.

You can also order a personalized Visa Gift Card but beware of the fees involved-see the fee schedule for this at the bottom of their website.

The second site is called Plastic Jungle. Buy, sell and trade gift cards at PlasticJungle.com. Pay as low as $60 for a $100 gift card or sell your unwanted gift cards for cash!
