Update- this was Home Depot’s 2009 give-a-way for Earth Day 2009. I searched their website for 2010 and it looks like it will not be repeated. Too bad, as this was very popular. Sign up for my free emails and if they do this again, I will post about it.
Save money by switching to energy efficent light bulbs. Thirty five dollars per bulb is the amount that GE estimates we can save by switching our incadescent light bulbs to energy efficient light bulbs over the lifespan of the bulbs after factoring in the replacement cost. Let’s multiply that by the number of light bulbs in our homes and that is a considerable savings.
Home Depot is giving away one million ECO Smart 14 w CFL bulbs for Earth Day, April 19th, 2009 - one per customer.
