If you have a child age 6 months to one year, you can have a free eye exam, with no income requirements. InfantSEE is a free program sponsored by the American Optometric Association in partnership with the Vision Care Institute of Johnson & Johnson Vision Care.
You can use their doctor locator on the website to find an InfantSEE optometrist near you. Over 7,000 optometrists have volunteered to participate in this important program. At about age 6 months, the optometrist will test your baby for visual acuity, excessive amounts of nearsightedness or farsightedness or astigmatism, evaluate their eye alignment and examine the health of your baby’s eyes. Although eye problems in an infant are not common, any problems can be more easily corrected if treatment begins early.
The InfantSee website has great information for parents and includes suggested activities to help your baby see and explore their world.
Please pass along this important information to all the new parents you know. Thank you to Jaime at Engineer a Debt Free Life for sharing this information with me.
