Getting Paid to take Online Surveys

Can you get paid to take online surveys? Several readers have inquired about this, so I did some research. Please know that I have not participated in any of these paid surveys, so I have no firsthand knowledge. I welcome your feedback.

There are many legitimate companies that use surveys to generate feedback for their customers and are willing to pay you for your time. Most surveys pay between $1.00 and $5.00. Many require you to set up a PayPal account (free) to receive payment and some pay in gift cards such as Amazon.com.

A few important tips: Read the privacy policy to make sure that your information will not be shared. Set up a separate free e-mail account for these surveys. Set up a separate PayPal account for the cash payments, perhaps in a separate bank account.

If a survey site requires you to download a program onto your computer before you begin, I would skip that one. You must fill out your initial profile carefully. You will be accepted or rejected as a participant based upon your profile. Before you take the time to complete the survey, look at their payment options. Record the time you spend and the name of the company you signed up with so you can decide whether or not to participate again.
