If you have not yet joined thredUP, you should join for free on Earth Day, April 22, 2011. You will get a free swapping credit of $13.95 which will get you 90% off your first box of gently-used kids clothes, toys or books.
Since their launch, thredUp has more than 100,000 members exchanging boxes of good items that their kids no longer use. Not only is this great for the wallet, it is great for the environment too!
ThredUP is a site where parents exchange gently worn kids clothing. The recipient pay the shipping and handling. The USPS will mail you the empty box that you need to use to send your clothing.
You are not usually making a direct swap with someone else. You will simply choose the “box” of clothing that you wish to receive, then pay shipping and handling. Next you pack your own box of clothing to swap, and when someone choose’s your box, you print out a label and mail it. Remember, only the recipient pays shipping and handling.
This is a neat concept. There are other clothing swap sites out there but my readers tell me they have gotten really great stuff through thredUP. The basic membership is free. There is a “PRO” Membership which has some extra bells and whistles.
