Save your receipts and save money. It is a common frustration to make a purchase only to see the item go on sale. If you save your receipt and return to the store within the time frame allowed, you can get cash back or a store credit, individual store policies differ. Here are the price protection time frames of some major retailers:
7 days
Dick’s Sporting Goods
JC Penney
J. Crew

Kohl’s -another tip – will match competitors prices at time of purchase
Nordstrom
Office Max -another tip – will match competitors price plus 15% of the difference
Old Navy
Staples – another tip – will match competitors price

Victoria’s Secret

Barnes & Noble -in store purchases
Bed, Bath & Beyond -will match competitors price
BJ’s Wholesale Club
Lamps Plus-will match competitors price plus 20% of the difference
Lowe’s-will match competitor’s price plus 10% of the difference

Amazon.com discontinued their price protection policy last year. However, they did give me a $60 credit when the price of the Kindle I bought two weeks ago dropped by $60.00. You can read the details HERE in my article.
