Rent college textbooks – save money

Renting your college books is a great option for saving money. The most popular site to rent books  is Chegg.com. However, HERE is a site that gives you a side by side comparison of all the best discounted textbooks sellers like Half. com and eBay and it also includes the price to rent the same book at Chegg.com. Often  buying a used textbook is even cheaper than renting one . At campusbooks.com you can see all of your options at a glance and it includes the shipping cost.

I have done my homework on discount college textbooks and campusbooks.com offers the best prices. Here is an example using my daughter’s Physical Geology textbook. The list price to buy the book new is $106.31. I went to campusbooks.com and typed in the title and you can rent this textbookon Chegg.com for $49.55. I could buy it on eBay for $22.00 or at half.com for $75.48. You can see that it is worth your time to check each book individually at campusbooks.com.

The only drawback is that it takes time for the books to arrive. I rented a textbook for my daughter and it took more than a week to arrive. Try to obtain your book lists from your professors as soon as possible to allow for the shipping time.

You can also sell your used textbooks at campusbooks.com and they will find you the best textbook buyback prices on the Internet.

If you know a college student or a parent of a college student, do not let them pay full price for their textbooks. You can save hundreds of dollars by renting your college books or buy purchasing them at a discount online. You can email this article by clicking  “share this” (green button below). You could find a semester’s worth of books here for the price of one or two books at full price!

P.S. Don’t forget to sell back your textbooks when you are finished at this site too. Just print out the shipping label and wait for your check. I will give you a failing grade if you have unused textbooks gathering dust!

This is a great article, thanks for sharing your resources! I wanted to share that in my experience, sometimes buying used or digital is even cheaper than renting. I really like using http://www.campusbooks.com because it is a price-comparison site that shows books for sale, for rent, and for download so I can see all of my choices in one place. I’ve saved a lot of time and money over the last few semesters. Hope this helps other students!
