If you received a gift card that you will not use, why not trade it in for an Amazon.com gift card or sell it and get cash? You can get up to 85% of the value. I found two sites to compare to see which one will give you the most for your unwanted gift cards.
You can also purchase gift cards for less than face value. If you are giving them as gifts, the recipient does not know that you paid less than face value. They receive the gift card for the full amount. For example, if you purchase a Macy’s gift card for $42, the recipient will get a gift card with a value of $50.
The first site is called giftcards.com. They will buy your unwanted gift cards with a balance between $25.00 and $200.00 as long as there is not a pending expiration. They will send you a check within 48 hours.
You can go to their website to search their inventory or see how much you will receive for your unwanted gift card by clicking on their ad below: Use the search bar that says” what do you want to do today?” and then choose sell merchant cards from the drop down menu.
Here are some examples from GiftCards.com:
$25 Bath & Body Works – get $15 cash
$50 Barnes & Noble – Get $32.50 cash
$100 Bloomingdale’s – Get $65 cash
The second site is called Plastic Jungle. Here is a link to their site: Buy, sell and trade gift cards at PlasticJungle.com. Pay as low as $60 for a $100 gift card or sell your unwanted gift cards for cash!
Here are some examples from Plastic Jungle:
$25.00 Starbucks gift card - $20 cash or a $21 Amazon.com gift card
$50 Pottery Barn gift card – $40 cash or $42 Amazon.com gift card
$100 Old Navy gift card – $70 cash or $73.50 gift card
You can also donate your unwanted gift card to your favorite charity.
