Stamp Out Hunger – Leave a Bag for your Letter Carrier

Stamp Out Hunger, the nation’s largest food drive will take place tomorrow, Saturday, May 12th, 2012.  Your letter carrier will be collecting donated food items along their route and donating the items to food banks, pantries and shelters that serve the local community.

According to the Stamp Out Hunger website, the need for food assistance has never been greater. One in three people in America who is at hunger risk is a child (17.2 million).

Campbell Soup Company will donate one pound of food (up to one million o) to Feeding America for every person who joins the Stamp Out Hunger Facebook Cause, pledging their support to donate food. To trigger a donation, visit www.Facebook.com/StampOutHunger.

Leave a sturdy bag containing non-perishable foods such as soup, canned vegetables, pasta, rice, or cereal next to your mailbox prior to the time of your regular mail delivery on Saturday, May 12, 2012.

Today, one in eight Americans relies on Feeding America for food and groceries. times are hard and it feels so good to help. Make sure to get the kids involved!

Many of the nation’s children will not have access to school free lunch programs during the summer months and more families will be turning to food pantries for help.
