Did you see Alice.com featured on The Today Show yesterday? It is a great time and money saving service.
Alice.com is a fairly new online grocery site for non-perishable grocery items offering you free eCoupons for instantly savings. Alice.com also has great prices, FREE delivery and NO MINIMUMS.
If you register as a new user, you will get $10.00 off your first order of $50.00, just click on their link : Alice.com. There is no special code that you need. Just by creating the free account, you will receive the $10 credit when your order(s) reach $50.00 or more. You don’t even need to spend the $50.00 all at once, Alice.com will keep track for you!
I began to organize my shopping list on Alice.com by looking at my receipt from my last shopping trip to Vons, a subsidiary of Safeway with about 300 stores. Their prices are decent and they also offer a home delivery option but the Von’s delivery fee is $6.95 for a minimum of $150.00. Alice.com does not charge a delivery fee.
Here is my apples to apples price comparison chart on a few items:
Bic Soleil women’s razors (4) Vons- $4.99 Alice.com $5.57
All Ultra-Concentrated Free & Clear Detergent Vons – $5.99 Alice.com $5.31
Head & Shoulders 2 in 1 shampoo/conditioner 14.2 oz. Vons -$4.99 Alice.com $5.13
Colgate Toothpaste Vons -$2.49 Alice.com $2.69
Taster’s Choice Coffee 7 oz. Vons – $7.99 Alice.com $7.52
Total: Vons – $26.45 Alice.com $26.22
I did not apply any Alice.com coupons to this order, nor did I clip and use any manufacturers coupons at Vons/Safeway. My point is that the prices are very close, however, how much is your time worth?
If you factor in the time to drive to and from the store, coupon clipping and sorting before you go, coupon and comparison shopping inside the store, impulse purchases at the store (a big one), whiny kids, tired mom and you get my point. It’s a no-brainer.
I figured that if I shop at Alice.com, I will have at least 2 hours more in my week in addition to saving money. When you first begin to build your list on the site, it takes a little time. The beauty of it is that Alice.com remembers what you order and helps you build you list for the next time, so each time you use the service it becomes easier and quicker. They also have an advanced planning feature that you can set up to have reminders send to you so you never run out of toilet paper. (Never happened at my house, ha!)
I use the extra time to plan my meals more carefully and do some advanced cooking of entrees to re-purpose the next night. Now I only shop for produce, dairy, meat and frozen items. I am in the grocery store a fraction of the time that I was. I have also found that I am a more careful shopper as I put the Alice.com items into my online cart.
Take a look at Alice.com. I think their website is fun and easy to use, once you get the hang of it. If you don’t have time to complete your order, you can just save items to your cart and finish it later.
