Angie’s List is a website where actual users rate and review over 250 types of services such as plumbers, house painters, landscapers and handymen. Angie’s List is available in more that 120 cities and according to their website, they have 20,000 visitors each month with about 5,000 review reports written each month.
The service providers are graded from “A” through “F” by the actual customers. It is not mandatory to write a review but certainly encouraged. The site is only as good as it’s reviews.
There is a small fee for the consumer to use the site, but the service providers do not pay a fee to be listed on the site. I am usually the biggest cheapskate around when it comes to paying fees for anything, however, I have used Angie’s List and was very pleased with the companies that I found through this service.
Find reviews on the services you need at Angie’s List – from electrician to physician .
We received a tax refund and wanted to tackle several home repair with our refund. I signed up for the monthly fee for $4.50 and researched and then lined up all the providers I would need and then I cancelled the monthly service with a phone call (you can also cancel by email.)
I am certain that I saved the monthly fee many times over. I called several companies in each category and then did some further checking on my own before making my decision. By using Angie’s List, I was able to narrow down the selection process very quickly.
If you have multiple projects, Angie’s List may be beneficial to you. In addition to the monthly option, you can also get a discount if you sign up for a year or more. They offer a 110% money back satisfaction guarantee on any annual memberships.
My thinking is that when you call a company and tell them that you found their name on Angie’s List, they will go above and beyond to provide you with the best service knowing that you will most likely be writing a review of their work.
Angie’s List also has representatives that will help you to try and resolve any conflict on your behalf.
Here are a few other scenarios where Angie’s List may be helpful:
If you have an out-of-state property that needs maintenance
If you have a parent in another state who needs help finding a reputable service provider
If you are new to a community and don’t yet have your referral network in place yet
